Please read these Terms carefully before registering for or taking part in the QuestX competition. By registering a student, registering a school, creating an account, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms govern your access to and use of the QuestX website, the Practice Zone, the QuestX competition, and any related services (together, the “Services”). QuestX is a global mathematics competition operated as a project of Math Make Smart — namely Math Make Smart LLC in the United States and Math Make Smart Ltd in the United Kingdom (“Math Make Smart”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Services.
QuestX is designed for students in Years 3 to 10 (and equivalent grade levels in our operating countries). Because participants are children, registration and payment must be completed by an adult — a parent or legal guardian for individual entries, or an authorised school coordinator, teacher, or administrator for school entries (a “Registering Adult”).
By registering a student, the Registering Adult confirms that they:
Students do not create their own accounts using a personal email address. Communications relating to a student are sent to the Registering Adult's email address.
To take part, you must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it up to date. There are two entry paths:
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any login details, exam links, or access codes issued to you, and for all activity that takes place under your registration. Please notify us promptly at quiz@questx.mathmakesmart.com if you believe your access details have been compromised.
Participation in the QuestX competition requires payment of a registration fee, which varies by entry type and, for schools, by the number of students registered. Volume discounts and early-bird pricing may be offered from time to time. The applicable fee is shown at the point of registration before you confirm payment.
Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment providers, Stripe and PayPal (including Apple Pay and Google Pay where available). We do not store full card details. All fees are stated in the currency shown at checkout and are exclusive of any local taxes unless stated otherwise. Refunds are governed by our Refund and Return Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
QuestX is a gamified, space-themed mathematics competition in which students complete a timed quiz of approximately 30 questions appropriate to their year group and level. There are eight levels, one for each year group from Year 3 to Year 10 — Novas, Cadets, Voyagers, Quasars, Titans, Guardians, Sentinels, and Legends — each set within its own chapter of the QuestX story. On completing the competition, eligible students receive results and a downloadable certificate, and may appear in school, national, and global rankings.
We aim to run the competition on the scheduled date and according to the published format, but we reserve the right to change the date, format, level structure, question count, time limits, or rules where reasonably necessary — for example for technical, operational, or fairness reasons. Where we make a material change, we will use reasonable efforts to notify Registering Adults in advance.
QuestX depends on fair competition. By taking part, you agree that the student will complete the competition independently and without prohibited assistance. The following are not permitted:
We may use proctoring and anti-cheating measures on our exam platform. Where we reasonably believe a participant has breached these integrity rules, we may disqualify the entry, withhold or revoke certificates and rankings, and decline future registrations, without refund.
Certificates, scores, and rankings are awarded based on competition performance and are issued at our discretion in accordance with the published rules. Rankings may be displayed publicly (for example on leaderboards) using a participant's first name, year group, school, and country, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not guarantee any particular result, rank, or award.
The QuestX website may offer a free Practice Zone with sample questions. The Practice Zone is provided for familiarisation only, is offered “as is”, does not count towards competition results, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
When using the Services, you agree not to:
All content forming part of QuestX — including the QuestX and Stellar Minds names and branding, the story universe and characters, animations, question banks, certificate designs, website design, text, and graphics — is owned by or licensed to Math Make Smart and is protected by intellectual property laws.
You may use this content only as needed to take part in the competition for personal, non-commercial purposes. Certificates issued to a participant may be downloaded, printed, and shared by that participant and their family or school. All other rights are reserved.
The Services rely on third-party providers, including payment processors (Stripe, PayPal), an online examination and proctoring platform, and email delivery services. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers beyond our reasonable control.
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we use reasonable skill and care to provide the Services, we do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses, or that the website or its server is free of harmful components. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties not expressly set out in these Terms.
We will not be liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including fire, flood, storm, strike, war, civil unrest, failure of telecommunications or internet services, or acts of government. We are not responsible for loss of data on your own devices; you are responsible for keeping your own backups.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss (including loss of opportunity, data, or profits). Except for liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), our total liability to you in connection with the Services will not exceed the amount of the registration fee paid by you for the entry to which the claim relates.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Services, disqualify an entry, or decline future registrations if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or a breach of academic integrity, or if required by law. Where we cancel a valid entry for reasons that are our fault, the Refund and Return Policy will apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when they were last revised. Changes take effect when posted on the QuestX website. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
For participants who register in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and the courts located there will have jurisdiction over any dispute. For participants who register in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and all other countries, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause removes any mandatory consumer protection rights available to you under the laws of your country of residence.
